UU Game Terminology - Winning

From Unstable Games Wiki

The End of the Game

The first person to successfully collect the required number of Unicorns in their Stable wins! Each Unicorn card counts for one Unicorn (unless otherwise stated.)

  • 2-5 Players: 7 Unicorns to win. (If you are playing with 2 players, make sure to read the 2-player Rules section.)
  • 6-8 Players: 6 Unicorns to win.

"HOW TO WIN The first person with the required number of Unicorns in their Stable wins. Each Unicorn card counts for 1 Unicorn (unless otherwise stated). If a player reaches the required number of Unicorns while an effect chain is active, that player is not declared the winner until all links in that effect chain have resolved." (This win condition was updated with the second print rule sheet (June 2018), without the resolution of the effects statement players could win instantly at the number of unicorns achieved (game ended), even if they caused effects that would then cause themselves to not achieve the goal.)

Winning Condition

A game winning condition is determined when the number of unicorns is achieved and no effects remain to resolve.

This is the similar condition that you are able to progress to next phase of the turn, so you could use the statement;

"You win at end of a phase".

No player can win instantly when they get the number of unicorns required.

Stolen unicorn End of turn phase return effect.

  • The card's "return effect" is only triggered - At the end of turn phase.
  • It is not an active link in a chain that would prevent you from continuing to the draw phase nor does it prevent you from a win condition prior to the end of the turn phase.

Puppicorn

  • Puppicorn is the only card that lets you win outside of a phase.

If it moves in a stable creating the required total of unicorns you win before the beginning of turn phase.

Determining the winner of a Tie or when the deck runs out of cards.

2nd edition.

If the deck runs out of cards before any player reaches a winning number of Unicorns in their Stable, the player with the most Unicorns wins.

If two or more players tie for the most Unicorns in their Stable, each tied player must add up the number of letters in the names of all the Unicorn cards in their Stable. The player with the most letters wins.

If two or more players tie for the most Unicorns and the most letters, everyone loses. Ouch.

LOT 23484

If the deck runs out of cards before any player reaches the required number of Unicorns in their Stable, the player with the most Unicorns wins. If two or more players tie for the most Unicorns in their I Stable, each tied player must add up the number of letters in the names of all the Unicorn cards in their Stable. The player with the most letters wins. If two or more players tie for the most Unicorns and the most letters, everyone loses.

LOT 23167

"If you’re a stickler, the game ends when you run out of cards. If no one completed their Unicorn Army, no one gets to be The Righteous Ruler of All Things Magical. If you’re a rule-breaker, you can reshuffle the discard pile back into the deck when you’re out of cards. The rules say not to, but you just don’t give a care. You’re a rebel. Good for you. If you are a Baby Unicorn, the game ends when you flip the table. Don’t be a Baby Unicorn. You’re better than that."
