Unstable Unicorns - Chronology

AUGUST 2022 - Unstable Unicorns has just celebrated its 5th anniversary for the original Kickstarter release! Over the last 5 years, there have been hundreds if not thousands of production runs of all different releases of Unstable Unicorns from many different publishing companies that have been used over that time. In this chronology, you will only see the relevant changes to the card text through its progression; Over this time these text printings have been labeled for easy reference to distinguish what version of card text you may be playing with. (OT)"Original Text" - This refers to the Original 2017 Kickstarter release card text version. (1P)"First Print" - First print retail was released in early 2018, this includes (GS)"Gamestop" exclusive box in the same (1P) text format. (2P)"Second Print" - Second print retail released in late 2018, (GS2)"Gamestop" and the (CC)"Control and Chaos" are all in the same (2P) text format. (2E)"2nd Edition" Released from 2019 is the most current card text version. A lot of cards have been retired and everything prior to this is out of print (discontinued).

This is the 1st Base Text release version;"Original Text" (OT) Original 2017 Kickstarter release card text.

Original Text is defined as the game effect text printed for the 2017 Kickstarter release of Unstable Unicorns.

• 2017 Kickstarter Original Text can be identified as there is no Lot# printed on the back of the box.

PRODUCTION UPDATE January 2018 - Unstable Unicorns is now published by Breaking Games™ an AD MAGIC™ company. This change in publisher has given the card back a lighter appearance and a larger black border than the previous releases. All previous releases are now out of print.

With the fulfillment of the Kickstarter campaign - Original Text(OT) has been discontinued.

🦄FIRST PRINT(1P)

This is the 2nd Base Text release version;"First Print" (1P) First print retail release in early 2018 and "Gamestop" (GS) in the same text format.

First Print is defined as the game effect text printed for the first retail version released. The game text is identical text to Original Text.

• First Print can be identified with Lot#23167 printed on the back of the box.

December 2017 Cosplay Unicorn(1P)

• Released at convention Booths for the 2018 Convention Card reward.
• The First Print(1P) was limited to 10,000 copies and is now Out of Print and no longer available from official sources.
• Released with no symbol.

January 2018 Gamestop.com Base(GS)

• Released product for the 2017 Gamestop Edition.
• 135 cards in a white box with "Gamercorn" on the back - Gamestop Exclusive contains "Gamercorn" card.

• The card "Puppicorn" is not included.

January 2018 Original Base(1P)

August 2018 - All First Print(1P) has been discontinued.

🃏SECOND PRINT(2P)

This is the 3rd Base Text release version;"Second Print" (2P) Second print retail release 2018. "Control and Chaos" (CC) and "Gamestop" (GS) in the same text format.

The text was streamlined to give concise definitions to gameplay concepts - the word STEAL was introduced to replace the lengthy text of "move a card from a stable into your stable".

• The Second print card text altered the card gameplay from the First Print text on the following cards;.

July 2018 Rainbow Apocalypse Expansion(2P)

All cards in this expansion were originally introduced during the first kickstarter but were separated into Apocalypse Expansion and Rainbow Sprinkles Expansions, they were later combined to create this expansion for Retail sale.

• The card Sharing is Caring was not included in this new release, an extra copy of Special Delivery and Rainbow Sprinkles was added to complete the 54 card total.
• Even though this expansion was first released with the new second print card text, the box did not include a production date.

November 2018 Unicorns of Legend Expansion(2P)

• First Release with DoM on the box.

• Available during the 2019 Runes and Regulations Kickstarter campaign as an optional addon purchase and was a free gift for returning backers from the Unstable Unicorns Kickstarter campaigns.

With the fulfillment of the Kickstarter campaign - Control and Chaos(CC) has been discontinued.

🦄NSFW BASE(2P)

This base set incorporates the nsfw expansion into a Base set.

March 2019 NSFW Base Deck

• 135 cards in a black Black cover box with "Hoof Job" on the back. - released with no card symbol.
• This base deck includes the NSFW Expansion, with 58 New Unique cards.

• The card "Dirty Mind" is not included.

PRODUCTION UPDATE JULY 2019 - 2nd Edition release has dual card-type icons in both the top left and the bottom right corners. The set symbol now appears on the bottom right side of the artwork. The Gamestop exclusive base has been discontinued.

🦄2nd EDITION(2E)

This is the 4th Base Text release version;"2nd Edition" (2E) Released from 2019.

With the release of "2nd Edition", people have been quick to label all previous releases collectively as "1st Edition", when in fact it is not officially recognized. TeeTurtle or Unstable Games have never used the term to describe any release ever. This is the only instance this wiki includes the term "1st Edition".(Please take care when purchasing items listed as 1st Edition).

The text was streamlined to give concise definitions to gameplay concepts - all cards that affect the Hand limit now use the text to decrease or increase the limit.

November 2019 Steampunk Unicorn(2E)

Steampunk Unicorn released at convention Booths for the 2020- year reward. 2020 Convention Card.

• This release has dual card type icons in both the top left and the bottom right corners.
• Released with "Cuddly Unicorn" symbol.

August 2019 2nd Edition Base(2E)

• Released product for 2020 - available November 2019
• 135 cards in a white box with "2nd Edition" on the Front and "Dark Angel Unicorn" on the back. - released with "Cuddly Unicorn" symbol (which first appeared on the Steampunk Unicorn).
• New Cards:Mother goose Unicorn, Unicorn Oracle, Necromancer Unicorn, Dark Angel Unicorn, Kiss of Life, Claw Machine,Stable Artillery, Caffeine Overload, and Rainbow Lasso.

• Retired Cards: Extremely Fertile Unicorn, Puppicorn, Zombie Unicorn, Angel Unicorn, Unicorn Shrinkray, Extra Tail, Rainbow Mane, Summoning Ritual and Unicorn Lasso.

October 2020 The Christmas Special Expansion(2E)

• Released product for 2020.
• 36 cards in a box with "Nutcrackercorn" on the Front and "Helper Elficorn", "Festive Flying Unicorn", & "Sugar Crash Unicorn" on the back.

• First available September 2020 as a preorder on Amazon, release date 12/10/2020, however orders shipped on 10/10/12.

PRODUCTION UPDATE December 2020 - With the release of the 2nd Edition Expansions(2E), the card backs may appear to be a different shade than previous releases. This change in color is due to the use of CMYK color printing. The color difference is due to inconsistencies with the nature of CMYK ink. Work is still in progress on minimizing color inconsistencies in future printing of Unstable Unicorns 2nd Edition. Some copies of Rainbow Apocalypse(2E) and NSFW expansion(2E) with a DoM Dec 2020 have mistakenly had second print packaged instead. Please contact Teeturtle customer service if found. All expansion box covers have the 2nd Edition "cuddly unicorn" (2E) symbol printed in the bottom right corner.

The NSFW expansion has been discontinued.
