"Play" specifically refers to playing a card usually associated to the action during the Action Phase or playing an Instant card at any time.
- If any card has effect text within an effect referring to playing a card can have an instant card played against it (unless otherwise stated). Critical Hit: When you play a Magic card, you may SACRIFICE this card. If you do, return the Magic card to your hand, then immediately play it again.
- When a card is played it is announced and revealed to all other players, they are given this information openly so they can make an informed decision to then play an instant card or not.
- If you Bring a card directly into your Stable you did not play that card. Any card that is brought directly into your Stable cannot be Neigh’d.
- If a card is played that is found to be against the rules, where the card should be Un-play-able. The action was invalid and the card is returned to the hand of that player. The card is treated as not played at all, it will not go to discard pile.
